Doctorate followed by research activity and at least three years’ teaching experience, including proven experience in supervising doctoral candidates. Highly active in conducting application-related scientific research in the field of mathematics, and cutting-edge academic achievements, documented by a comprehensive list of academic publications for internationally-reviewed journals and publishing houses. Detailed statement by at least one collaborative partner in Germany on the prosposed cooperation as well as by the Director of the Institute or Dean of the relevant institution. Expert reviews by important collaborative partners and academics at the applicant’s own institute and other institutes, if possible not all located in the country where he/she is currently working.

The call addresses academics from any country who demonstrably conduct application-related research in the field of mathematics, have several years’ experience in heading an independent working group or research institute as well as in training students and doctoral candidates. The application must be supported by at least one collaborative partner in Germany. There will only be one call for the endowed chair in “Mathematics and its Applications” at AIMS-Senegal.

The scholarships are available to people of any nationality, although candidates must be between 23 and 40 years old except for research scholarships.

The FUNDACION BOTIN assigns 220.000 € to Visual Arts Grants for study, research and the undertaking of individual projects in the sphere of (non-theoretical) artistic work. Artists may be any nationality. Q The Fundación Botín may award one grant to an artist from, or resident in, Cantabria, as long as this application involves a change of residence. Q The grants are individual, indivisible and non-transferable. They do not cover family provisions. Q The grants are incompatible with any other institutional funding.

Eligibility:

-Very good degree (Diploma or Master) in environmental economics or related field.
-Very good knowledge of English and French. -Knowledge and experience in environmental valuation is of advantage -Work experience in developing countries, particularly West Africa, is of advantage.

Land management decisions determine the production of agricultural and forestry outputs. But they also have implications for the production of non?marketed ecosystem goods and services such as water purification and regulation. Shortages of ecosystem services can substantially curtail the livelihoods of particularly the rural population in developing countries who vitally depend on land productivity and natural resources.  The overall objective of the proposed research is to develop innovative valuation methodologies suitable for application in developing countries and apply the methodologies to value changes of land management decisions with respect to non? marketed ecosystem services in the West African Sudanian Savannah region.
